Licensed Medicare Insurance Broker
David Little, Sr. was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in Asheville, North Carolina. After high school, David served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969. He attended college at the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 1971 where he completed a bachelor’s degree in economics.
While in college, David worked for JC Penny before selling life insurance policies for Northwestern Mutual Life. After a couple of years, he decided to go on the road and ended up working for Hanes for 28 years. When he retired from Hanes in 1996, David was in charge of military exchange sales in 21 states. Retirement allowed David to try another career in real estate, which he sold for five years. While he enjoyed real estate, he missed working in insurance and reestablished his insurance license before going to work for Humana in January 2005.
While at Humana, David sold Medicare Advantage plans as well as other Medicare Supplements including long-term care, annuities, and life insurance. He retired from Humana in 2012 before becoming an independent insurance broker selling Medicare products along with life, health, and annuity products. With 16 years of experience in selling Medicare products and as a Medicare client himself, David is very familiar with the ins and outs of all parts of Medicare.
He really enjoys meeting people and helping them find the best Medicare insurance solutions to meet their needs, from veterans to those requiring a Medicare Special Needs Plan (SNP). For David, providing spectacular customer service is a top priority. He loves building long-lasting relationships with his clients by getting to know them as people and turning them into friends.
Additionally, integrity is a huge part of his business philosophy through being honest with his clients and helping them break down available Medicare plans along with the related costs. This allows each client to make an educated decision regarding their Medicare healthcare program.
In his spare time, David enjoys tennis and fitness. He tries to hit the court two to three times a week and swims or uses the treadmill the other days of the week. David encourages his clients and friends to stay active as well through Silver Sneakers, which is a gym program that most Medicare Advantage companies offer at no additional cost. The program typically includes a FitBit to track your health and wellness, too. On Sundays, he attends church with his children and grandchildren before enjoying a traditional sit-down meal.

David Little, Jr., is a chip off the block and is excited about working with his father, David Little, Sr., to support others in achieving their Medicare health plan goals. Born in Asheville, North Carolina, David, Jr., moved with his family to Savannah, Georgia, in 1980. Following high school, he attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in economics with an emphasis in international business.
After college, David worked in logistics for several years at a tire company before moving on to work with an import and export business. He eventually fell into a job with a software company that was bought by a venture capitalist, Verisign, which changed the name to HO Software. After the .com bust, Verisign sold the business. That’s when David entered the insurance business in 2009. He earned his life insurance license and went to work for New York Life.
After two years, David left to work for Gulf Stream where he stayed until 2019 when the company downsized. While David had planned to begin selling Medicare insurance part-time with his father, the downsizing at Gulf Stream gave David the opportunity to launch his Medicare career full-time and he hasn’t looked back.
David said he found his calling in educating people about their Medicare options and advising them on their best options rather than just landing a sale. “It’s great being able to assist people with planning and helping them understand their options so they can make wise decisions based on their health needs and budget,” David, Jr., said. “Recently, I went to a prospect’s house that we have been working on for years. We looked at their options and the budget they had for 2019. In 2019, he had a partnership that sold his company so he had a huge income that year. Instead of buying Medicare in 2021, we advised him to begin in 2022. While I lost money, it’s what was best for the client. He saved $660 a month in expenses.”
Through explaining the Medicare paths available to individuals and navigating them through the world of Medicare, David, like his father, enjoys building relationships with people that he maintains throughout the year. Whether people have questions about claims or other Medicare options available to them, David is just a phone call away.
When he’s not working, David enjoys physical fitness activities, is an officer in his church, and is a member of the Kiwanis Club in his community. He also serves as a leader for Trail Life, a Christian-based scouting program. David also loves spending time with his wife, April, and their three children.
Year after year, millions of beneficiaries choose a Medicare plan, Medicare Supplement, or Medicare Advantage plan. In the modern business world, the sale is often more important to those running a company than building lifelong relationships and earning a customer for life. When you work with the Medicare Strategist, a family-owned and operated business, you will get the customer service you deserve with a personal touch. To us, you’re more than a client.
